Manjot Singh’s Journey in Acting
Manjot Singh, born on July 7, 1992, in New Delhi, belongs to a Punjabi Sikh family. His mother is a homemaker, and his father is a businessman. He completed his schooling at Hillwoods Academy in New Delhi.
When Manjot auditioned for Dibakar Banerjee’s Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!, the casting director initially rejected him. However, Dibakar Banerjee was convinced and insisted on casting Manjot for the role. The director later mentioned in an interview, “Even though the casting director wasn’t convinced, I just put my foot down.”
Manjot Singh’s Filmography
In 2012, Singh appeared in Udaan, directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, which was well-received. He also starred in Pure Punjabi, a Punjabi musical drama, in the same year. In Student of the Year, a coming-of-age romantic comedy, he played the character Dimpy alongside Alia Bhatt, Siddharth Malhotra, and Varun Dhawan.
Manjot also had pivotal roles in the Fukrey film series, along with Vishakha Singh, Richa Chadda, Ali Fazal, and others. He continued his success with films like Dream Girl 2, released in 2023.
