The Partnership Between Damon Wayans and His Son
After a decade of anticipation, the father-son duo of Wayans and Wayans Jr. are finally working together in a new CBS sitcom called Poppa’s House.
Speaking about their collaboration, Wayans mentioned, “I’ve been trying to make this happen for about 10 years now. But [Wayans Jr.’s] team didn’t think the timing was right. However, after years of discussions, it finally fell into place.”
Wayans Jr. expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to work with his father, acknowledging Damon Wayans as a legend and himself as a talented actor who closely resembles his father. Wayans Jr. humorously commented on their similarities, joking about voodoo dolls and their shared sense of humor.
Insight into CBS’ New Sitcom, Poppa House
Wayans and Wayans Jr. will play lead roles in the upcoming CBS series, Poppa’s House. The show follows Wayans’ character, a talk radio host navigating newfound perspectives after his station hires a female co-host portrayed by Essence Atkins.
In addition to his professional life, Poppa balances his responsibilities as a father and husband, supporting his dreamer son’s ambitions while maintaining a strong family dynamic.
The premiere of Poppa’s House is approaching, with CBS recently releasing a teaser trailer for the fall series, scheduled to air on Monday evenings. CBS Studios will produce the show, with Kevin Hench serving as executive producer alongside Wayans and Wayans Jr., who also co-wrote the pilot episode.
