Exploring the Meaning of Karma Resonance in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex

The 9th and most recent chapter of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex introduced the concept of Karma Resonance when Boruto encountered Kawaki. Despite the focus of the chapter being on Jura, Himawari, and the ongoing battle, the audience was particularly interested in the interaction between Boruto and Kawaki.
During their meeting in the chapter, Boruto and Kawaki briefly clashed, with Boruto emerging as the victor. However, it was what transpired after Kawaki activated his Karma that proved to be most intriguing.
What is Karma Resonance in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex?
In the 9th chapter of the Boruto manga, Boruto was on his way to Konohagakure to stop the Shinju from attacking the Shinobi there. When Kawaki intervened, a short altercation ensued, which Boruto ultimately won.
Following this, when Kawaki activated his Karma Mode, it triggered Boruto’s Karma Mode as well. However, as Boruto appeared to have limited control over his Karma Mode, he was forced to retreat. This phenomenon of Karma Resonance occurs when one individual possessed by an Otsutsuki activates their Karma, causing another nearby shinobi also under Otsutsuki influence to have their Karma activated.
Both Isshiki and Amado speculated that Karma Resonance was responsible for the rapid growth of Boruto and Kawaki’s Karma. The manga has yet to provide further explanations about Karma Mode Resonance or Karma Resonance.
What is Karma Mode?
In Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, Karma Mode is a technique used by members of the Otsutsuki clan to store their genetic data in a suitable vessel, allowing them to possess the vessel in the event of their original body’s demise.
The mystery behind Karma Resonance appears to be linked to Karma Mode. The evolution of Karma Mode enables the Otsutsuki to gradually overwrite the vessel’s data and fully inhabit it. Karma Resonance may act as a safety mechanism, activating the Karma Mode of other vessels nearby when one individual activates their Karma Mode.
Another theory suggests that Karma Resonance is a result of the close proximity of Otsutsuki vessels, as a clan housing highly advanced beings. When one vessel activates their Karma Mode, it triggers the others to do the same.
However, the inner workings and reasons behind Karma Resonance remain unknown. The latest chapter hints that Kawaki can control his Karma Mode, while Boruto struggles with Karma Resonance and risks losing control. Further explanations about this phenomenon may be provided in the upcoming chapters.
