APRA Music Awards 2021: Full List of Winners including Troy Siwan, Dean Lewis, and More
The APRA Music Awards in Australia are annual awards that celebrate excellence in contemporary music. These awards recognize composers, songwriters, and publishers who have achieved success in sales and airplay. In 2024, Troye Sivan and Dean Lewis emerged as the top winners at the APRA Music Awards.
Troye Sivan and Dean Lewis Shine at the APRA Music Awards
Troye Sivan and Styalz Fuego won the Peer-Voted APRA Song of the Year for “Rush” from their third studio album, “Something to Give Each Other.” Dean Lewis also secured two APRA Music Awards for his song “How Do I Say Goodbye,” while Josh and Sam Teskey were named Songwriters of the Year by the APRA Board of Writer and Publisher Directors.
Sivan’s winning song “Rush” from his album “Something to Give Each Other” pays homage to queer nightlife and gay clubs in Melbourne. This victory at the Apra Awards adds to Sivan’s collection of accolades in the past six months. The song earned him his first Grammy nominations and topped various year-end charts.
Dean Lewis had a successful year as well, winning awards for the most performed Australian work and pop work for “How Do I Say Goodbye,” a song inspired by his father’s battle with cancer. Lewis expressed gratitude to his father during the awards ceremony.
