Charlie Griffin and his dog from Wicked Tuna die in boating accident
The Wicked Tuna family is mourning the loss of one of their own.
Captain Charlie “Griff” Griffin, known for appearing on Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks, has passed away. A message shared on his Facebook page confirmed the news.
“It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Charlie Griffin and his dog, Leila, in a boating accident on March 4th. Please keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers. Griff will always be remembered!”
Although details of the boating accident were not provided in the announcement, the Coast Guard had previously reported an incident in North Carolina’s Outer Banks the day before.
A Coast Guard spokesperson informed E! News that they were alerted about a recreational vessel traveling from Virginia Beach, Virginia to Wanchese, North Carolina, for repairs. The last contact with the vessel was at 6:15 p.m. on March 3.
