Young Sheldon Shockingly Loses A Beloved Character In The Final Season
Jim Parsons & Mayim Bialik are set to reprise their ‘Big Bang Theory’ roles in the finale of ‘Young Sheldon’
This story contains spoilers from the final season of Young Sheldon.
Young Sheldon recently had a heartbreaking full-circle moment.
In the penultimate episode of The Big Bang Theory prequel, Sheldon’s father George Cooper, portrayed by Lance Barber, passed away from a heart attack.
Although tragic, this moment had been foreshadowed in season seven of The Big Bang Theory, where Sheldon—played by Jim Parsons, who also narrates Young Sheldon—mentioned that his father had died when he was 14, the same age as his character in the final season of the prequel series.
Following the airing of the episode on May 9, Iain Armitage, who plays the titular role, posted a tribute to his onscreen father. “Love you, George!” he wrote alongside heart emojis and photos with Barber on set. “Love you, Lance!!!”
Despite setting the stage for George’s death years in advance, Young Sheldon producers Steven Holland and Chuck Lorre made a deliberate effort to portray it in the least sad way possible.
