Julie Chrisley’s Surprising Prison Recipe: A Spicy Casserole You Won’t Believe
Julie Chrisley is known as the casserole queen, even while incarcerated.
Recently, Savannah Chrisley shared with her fans that her mom got creative during the holidays and cooked up a tasty meal for her fellow inmates using limited resources.
“I made the decision to cook for Thanksgiving,” Savannah explained, while reading a letter from Julie last November on the Apr. 2 episode of her Unlocked podcast. “There were about 10 of us who worked together. I prepared chicken and stuffing casseroles. We also had chips and dip, and some of the other women made dessert. It might not seem like much, but cooking anything in prison is a challenge.”
Julie, who is currently serving a seven-year sentence in Kentucky for bank fraud and tax evasion, detailed how she managed to bake her Thanksgiving dish without access to a kitchen or proper cooking tools. (Her husband Todd Chrisley is also serving a 10-year sentence.)
