Kristen addressed critics during her appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on March 12, highlighting the double standards faced by women.
“It’s quite ironic because I’ve noticed a lot of male nudity on magazine covers,” she remarked. “There are plenty of provocative poses and suggestive images that are openly accepted. There seems to be a glaring disparity in how female sexuality is perceived by those who hold sexist and homophobic views.”
The host of the show interjected, “I’ve seen more risqué covers on Rolling Stone and Sports Illustrated as well. It challenges the conventional idea of female sexuality compared to your portrayal here.”
“Exactly,” Kristen concurred. “Society expects women’s sexuality to be passive, merely existing to fulfill others’ desires. Any sign of women embracing their own desires is seen as disruptive and bothersome. But to that, I say, ‘Screw you.'”
