Jamie Foxx Describes Addressing Health Scare in New Standup as ‘Excruciating’, Tells Gayle King: ‘Worry Is What Gets You’
Jamie Foxx recently celebrated his comeback on stage with his team after a major health scare. In a video posted on social media, the Baby Driver actor gave a speech, toasted, and had a great time.
The highly acclaimed actor was also seen speaking with CBS Mornings’ Gayle King in a backstage video. King’s Instagram page and Oprah Daily shared a celebratory video marking the return of the Law Abiding Citizen actor, where he discussed his mental state during his recovery.
In the video, Jamie Foxx mentioned, “It was excruciating to open those wounds every day for three nights,” while talking to King after the final night of his comedy special, What Had Happened Was.
He added, “It was excruciating because the worry is what gets you.”
Jamie Foxx was hospitalized in April 2023 due to a “medical complication,” as reported by his daughter. He remained out of the public eye for about a month.
Foxx’s first Instagram post in May 2023 mentioned feeling blessed.
Hollywood figures like Martin Lawrence and Kevin Hart shared insights on the Django Unchained actor’s health.
Regarding his recent comedy special filmed in Atlanta for Netflix, Foxx had mentioned in September 2024 that it was a way to share his journey through a serious health scare.
“I am never going through this again. My next jokes will start with ‘knock, knock.’ I’ll do an hour and a half of ‘knock, knock’ jokes,” The Amazing Spider-Man 2 actor told King.
In July 2023, the White House Down actor described his journey as going to hell and coming back.
