Glen Powell Thrilled to Star in Edgar Wright’s The Running Man Remake, Says “Working On My Sprint”
Glen Powell is eagerly preparing to take on the role of the running man in the upcoming remake of the 1987 film based on Stephen King’s novel. Known for his role in Twisters, Powell has been practicing his sprint for the role and is thrilled to work with the legendary filmmaker.
During promotion of his Audible Original podcast, The Best Man’s Ghostwriter, Powell expressed his excitement for the project. He shared, “I have been doing a lot of sprinting. That’s all I can say. I’ve been working on my sprint,” with a laugh.
Powell also revealed his admiration for the director, stating, “Edgar Wright has been one of my favorite filmmakers for as long as I can remember.” He looks forward to collaborating with Wright and praised his unique and brilliant storytelling.
Describing the film as a passion project for the director, Powell emphasized the combination of Stephen King’s legendary story with Wright’s creative touch, making it a compelling project to be a part of.
Following his breakout role in Top Gun: Maverick, Powell has seen a rise in demand for his talent, with his recent success in Twisters boosting his career. The film has earned $311 million at the global box office so far.
In Twisters, Powell plays Tyler Owens, a YouTuber who crosses paths with meteorologist Kate Cooper (played by Daisy Edgar-Jones) on a storm-chasing adventure. Despite their differences, they must join forces to save themselves and others from a looming disaster.
