Will Ferrell Becomes Emotional When Director Josh Greenbaum Praises Him: Will & Harper
Will Ferrell is known for his loyalty to his friendships, no matter what. The actor became emotional during the premiere of his documentary when the director, Josh Greenbaum, spoke about Ferrell’s friendship qualities.
The documentary premiere took place at the BFI Southbank in London, where the audience had the opportunity to meet the director and actors, including Harper Steele.
During the Q&A session after the screening, the director discussed the filmmaking process and how he became involved in telling the story of two friends on a road trip.
Greenbaum shared, “We wanted to capture a genuine conversation between friends and bring it to a level where the audience can feel like they’re eavesdropping on me asking my dear friend questions. She allows me to make mistakes and encourages me to ask more.”
As the conversation continued, both the audience and Ferrell became emotional as the filmmaker praised the strong friendship between Ferrell and Steele, evident on and off screen.

The director expressed his love for Ferrell and Steele, stating, “It was a gift to capture their relationship on film. I hope Ferrell continues to receive the love he deserves, as he has brought so much joy into the world.”
In response, Ferrell jokingly wiped his tears and exclaimed, “What’s this Bullshit?” causing laughter among the crowd.
Before its Netflix release on September 27, the documentary had been screened at the Sundance Film Festival, Toronto Film Festival, and Telluride Film Festival.
The film’s synopsis reveals, “When Will Ferrell learns that his close friend of 30 years is transitioning, the two embark on a cross-country road trip to navigate this new phase of their relationship in a touching portrayal of friendship and change.”
The documentary will be available for streaming on Netflix on September 27.
