“Actor Andrew Garfield Discusses His Terms for Returning as Spider-Man: Will He Come Back?”
Andrew Garfield reflects on his time playing Spider-Man while promoting his new project, We Live in Time. In an interview with Esquire Magazine, the actor mentioned that he would consider reprising his role as the Marvel superhero if the movie had unique elements and appealed to the culture.
Garfield is remembered for his performance as Peter Parker in the MCU’s storyline, particularly in The Amazing Spider-Man from 2012. His portrayal continued in the subsequent film, Amazing Spider-Man 2, but his role was cut short due to the movie’s box office performance.
Additionally, Garfield made a cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home alongside Tom Holland and Zendaya. The actor felt that his superhero character’s story was left incomplete and ended abruptly.
When asked about Tobey Maguire’s potential return to the franchise, Garfield expressed surprise, saying, “I thought Tobey is not going to want to do that. He’ll act every 10 years, much to my chagrin, and I’ve shared that with him.” However, he was grateful when Maguire expressed interest in reprising his role.
No Way Home was a box office success, featuring Maguire, Garfield, and Holland teaming up to combat the villain Green Goblin.
Garfield finds playing Spider-Man enjoyable and would consider returning if the project added value and offered a fresh, exciting concept. He emphasized his love for the character and the joy it brings him.
Aside from his superhero role, Garfield will star alongside Florence Pugh in We Live In Time, scheduled for release on October 11.
