Julie Chen’s Absence from Big Brother’s Eviction Marks a Historic First
Julie Chen is embarking on a new experience.
The Big Brother host will be absent from the CBS reality competition series’ Sept. 12 live eviction episode for the first time in 24 years.
“Friday morning I woke up with a sore throat and visited my ENT friend,” the 54-year-old shared with fans in a Sept. 12 Instagram post. “That night he informed me that I have COVID. Fortunately, this is only my second time and it’s been very mild! No fever, just a sore throat.”
Chen mentioned that despite feeling strong and her cough being gone, she continues to test positive for coronavirus, stating, “I must sit out tonight’s Big Brother Live eviction show.”
However, the former The Talk cohost has found the perfect replacement: Current The Talk cohost Jerry O’Connell, whom she thanked for stepping in temporarily.
“I hope Jerry fits into my dress,” she quipped, “enjoys himself and conveys to the houseguests that I miss them but will be watching from home.”
