The Reason Billie Eilish Decided to Skip the 2024 MTV VMAs
2024 MTV VMAs: Olivia Rodrigo and Ariana Grande were notably absent from the MTV Video Music Awards.
Don’t label Billie Eilish as the bad guy for not attending the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards.
Despite being one of the most-nominated artists at the Sept. 11 ceremony, featuring stellar performances from Sabrina Carpenter, Shawn Mendes, Chappell Roan, Eminem, and host Megan Thee Stallion, Billie was a no-show.
Why did she skip the event? “With her world tour starting in two weeks,” an industry source told E! News on Sept. 12, “she was deep in preparation for that.”
Although Billie couldn’t make it to the VMAs, the UBS Arena in New York was radiating with star power as Taylor Swift swept the night with seven wins, including Video of the Year. Katy Perry also dazzled with a performance spanning her career, followed by her partner Orlando Bloom presenting her with the Video Vanguard award.
Billie is gearing up to hit the road in support of her third studio album, Hit Me Hard and Soft, with a tour of the same name beginning on Sept. 29 in Quebec City, Canada. She will tour across North America until December 17, then head to Australia in February and March. In April, she will bring the tour to Sweden and continue performing across Europe until July.
