While in a relationship with Henry, Payne praised her ability to handle being in the spotlight.
“If someone is going to take a photo, someone is going to do something,” he told Kiss F.M. UK in 2019. “The difference with her is that she is so relaxed that it helps me feel calm in a situation, instead of worrying about who’s watching and what’s happening. People will watch regardless.”
He emphasized that Henry made his life feel more “normal.”
“It’s been nice going out and exploring more of London than I ever have in my life,” Payne added in the radio interview.
However, after ending their engagement in 2021, Payne shared that he needed to focus on himself before committing to a serious relationship.
“I know my relationship patterns at this point,” he said on the Diary of a CEO podcast in 2021. “I’m not very good at them, so I need to work on myself before getting into another relationship. That’s where I found myself in my previous relationship.”
