In a recent opinion piece published on Nov. 25, 2020, in the New York Times, the Duchess of Sussex shared that she had experienced a miscarriage in July. She described realizing something was wrong when she was suddenly overcome by a devastating cramp one morning.
“I knew, as I held my firstborn child, that I was losing my second,” wrote Meghan.
Referred to as a “mother, feminist, and advocate” in her byline, the 39-year-old, who, along with her husband Prince Harry, stepped back from their senior royal roles earlier this year and moved to Southern California with their son, Archie Harrison, reflected on the significance of a simple question, “Are you OK?” This question was famously asked by a journalist during an interview in September 2019 and is more important than ever in today’s world.
Meghan shared, “While sitting in a hospital bed, seeing my husband’s heart break as he tried to comfort me in my despair, I came to realize that the first step to healing is to ask, ‘Are you OK?'”
