The progression of Todd Chrisley’s appeal in light of Julie’s overturned sentencing
Todd Chrisley‘s conviction has been upheld.
Despite the three-judge panel on the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals overturning his wife Julie Chrisley‘s sentencing, the panel did not grant the couple’s appeal for their tax evasion and bank fraud convictions.
According to court documents obtained by E! News, the panel concluded that there was not enough evidence to prove Julie’s involvement in the bank fraud scheme prior to 2007, which began in 2006. A lower court will now decide how to adjust her sentencing based on this new ruling. Todd’s original 12-year sentence, reduced to 10 years in September, will remain unchanged.
Upon hearing the latest update in the case, the family’s legal team informed E! News, “We are happy that the Court recognized Julie’s sentence as improper, although we are disappointed by the rejection of Todd’s appeal.”
“We can now focus on challenging the couple’s convictions due to the illegal search that initiated the case,” the statement added, possibly referring to the previous misconduct case the couple settled earlier this year. “The family is grateful for the ongoing support they have received throughout this ordeal and remains optimistic for positive developments in the future.”
