Sonakshi Sinha shares that her father Shatrughan Sinha prefers her to stay with him after marriage
Sonakshi Sinha has been making headlines due to rumors about her upcoming marriage with Zaheer Iqbal. Although the couple has not officially announced their wedding on social media, celebrities like Poonam Dhillon and Honey Singh have confirmed that the wedding is indeed taking place.
If reports are to be believed, Sonakshi and Zaheer are set to tie the knot on June 23.
Let’s rewind to 2012 when the actress once disclosed that her dad, veteran actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha, was hesitant about her leaving his house after marriage and moving to her in-laws’ place.
When Sonakshi Sinha discussed Shatrughan Sinha’s stance on her marriage
Two years after her debut in Dabangg, Sonakshi Sinha appeared on Simi Grewal’s show, India’s Most Desirable. In one segment, Simi referred to Shatrughan Sinha as “strict and conservative.”
Sonakshi acknowledged this, stating, “Every father is concerned when his daughter is involved.” The Dabangg actress mentioned that her father had spoiled her a lot.
Referring to herself as the “apple of his eyes,” the Heeramandi star revealed that he intended to “establish a home” for her where she could “bring her husband.” “He doesn’t want me to leave for my husband’s house. He wants my husband to come to our house,” she added.
Sonakshi’s mother, former actress Poonam Sinha, also described Shatrughan Sinha as a “conservative father.”
“He is as conservative as any father can be, and I would say much more, considering his background, he is extra conservative about her,” she remarked.
Shatrughan Sinha’s stance on Sonakshi Sinha’s marriage
Fast forward to 2024, Shatrughan Sinha was recently asked about Sonakshi Sinha’s rumored marriage. In an interview with the Bombay Times, the veteran actor stated that he is “neither affirming nor denying” the news.
“She is my only daughter…Time will reveal everything. She will always have my blessings,” the 77-year-old actor said.
Recently, Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal’s wedding invitation went viral online, revealing that the couple has been in a relationship for seven years.
On the professional front, Sonakshi and Zaheer will be appearing together in their upcoming film, Tu Hai Meri Kiran. They previously collaborated on the film, Double XL, in 2022.
