Chappell Roan Reveals Her First Tattoo in a Tell-All Interview
Renowned figure in the global music industry, Kayleigh Rose Amstutz, professionally known as Chappell Roan, has been transparent about her conservative upbringing in various interviews and talk shows. In addition to her personal challenges and journey in the music industry, Chappell Roan is recognized for her unique style. The popular pop artist recently shared the story behind her first tattoo and the defiance that inspired it.
Chappell Roan, the talent behind The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, has openly discussed her strict childhood and upbringing. In an interview with The Guardian, she revealed attending church thrice a week and being taught that being gay was sinful.
During an interview with Local10 in October 2023, the singer opened up about her first tattoo and its significance given her conservative background. She admitted:
“I have a ‘princess’ tramp stamp. That was my first tattoo.”
She further explained that the tattoo on her lower back represented a rebellion against her conservative upbringing:
“It was kind of a ‘f*** you’ to my upbringing of very conservative, Christian, ‘modesty is hottest’ mentality. I feel like the pendulum has just swung so far because of how restricted I felt.”
Interestingly, the title of her September 2023 album was influenced by this first tattoo.
At 26, Chappell Roan is a devoted fan of Hannah Montana, who heavily influences her work. In a viral clip by Pop Crave, Chappell expressed her admiration for the Disney star and how the Best of Both Worlds Tour was her first concert experience. She shared:
“She came down in a box from the ceiling. I was like, ‘How do I do that one day?’ I still think about it. I still think about the show. I want to be like Hannah Montana.”
She also praised Miley Cyrus for her ability to reinvent herself, citing her as a source of inspiration for personal and professional transformations.
Discussing Miley Cyrus’s fanbase, Chappel noted:
“I love her fanbase. She’s got the whole world that supports her. She could do whatever she wanted, which is something I want to do. Miley does anything and it works. Miley feels like freedom to me.”
In 2023, Miley Cyrus won a Golden Globe for Flowers in the Best Pop Solo Performance category.
