Who is runner Rebecca Cheptegei?
Cheptegui, born on Feb. 22, 1991, hails from Cheminy, Uganda in East Africa.
Her father, Joseph Cheptegei, stated that she is a married mother of two daughters, aged 9 and 11, with their father residing in Uganda.
Since 2010, she has been a professional distance racer, as noted by World Athletics. Her first listed result was a 15th-place finish with a time of 4:20.49 in the 1,500-meters at the 38th IAAF World Cross Country Championships in Poland.
In 2022, she emerged victorious in the Padova Marathon in Italy, secured the second position in the 10,000-meters at the Ugandan Championships, and claimed the title in the women’s up-and-down mountain race at the inaugural World Mountain and Trail Running Championships in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
She ended the year by achieving fourth place in the 2022 ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon, clocking a personal best time of 2:22:47.
