Vijay Varma gained popularity for his portrayal of a villain on screen. He recently disclosed that playing such negative characters caused women to be fearful of him, citing an incident with singer Sunidhi Chauhan who asked him to keep his distance after watching his film Pink.

Speaking at the grand launch of SCREEN in Mumbai, the Darlings actor shared that his antagonistic roles had a significant impact, with people disliking him due to the convincing characters he portrayed on screen.

The actor, known for his role in Jaane Jaan, also took on negative characters in Pink, Dahaad, and Darlings. These characters committed serious offenses against women, leading to a real-life fear of the actor among women.

Reflecting on his experience, Vijay mentioned, “Many beautiful girls and their mothers have expressed their fear of me, and it did concern me. The introduction of extremely malicious characters I portrayed began with Pink.”

Despite having a small role in the film, it left a lasting impact on the audience. He recalled an incident where he observed women feeling frightened during an all-female screening of Pink. Varma noted that renowned women from the entertainment industry, including Sunidhi Chauhan, were present at the event.

However, even Sunidhi Chauhan was moved to tears after watching the impactful film. Recalling their interaction at the event, he mentioned, “I tried to reassure Sunidhi Chauhan, but she warned me, ‘Don’t approach me. I’m very scared of you.’ I was taken aback, thinking, ‘What just happened?'”

Vijay was surprised by the reaction, but his film’s director later commended his performance. Meanwhile, the actor has consciously tried to alter people’s perceptions by taking up positive or diverse roles, such as the courageous and resilient Captain Devi Sharan in IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack.

On the professional front, Vijay Varma will be appearing in the movie Ul Jalool Ishq, directed by Vibhi Puri, alongside Naseeruddin Shah and Sharib Hashmi in significant roles. He is also working on the show, Matka King, co-starring Kritika Kamra.
