Anticipating the sequel to a beloved film like Vijay Sethupathi and Soori’s Viduthalai: Part 1 can be excruciating for any movie enthusiast. The initial installment captivated audiences and left them eagerly awaiting the next chapter.
However, there have been few updates about the project since then, leaving fans feeling frustrated. But in some comforting news, during the promotions for his 50th film Maharaja, Vijay Sethupathi revealed an interesting plot point about his and Manju Warrier’s characters in the movie.

Discussing his character in the film, the actor disclosed that writer-director Vetrimaaran had crafted a beautiful love story for his character Vaathiyaar. He also mentioned that a romantic storyline is on the horizon between him and actress Manju Warrier. Vijay even requested Vetrimaaran not to cut these scenes in the final edit of the film.
Due to Vetrimaaran’s unconventional filmmaking approach, it is probable that many scenes will be omitted in the final theatrical version. Nevertheless, similar to the previous time, the makers might consider releasing the extended version of the film on online platforms.

Viduthalai 2 is an upcoming Tamil language film featuring Vijay Sethupathi, Soori, Manju Warrier, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Kishore, Rajiv Menon, and others in significant roles. The movie has been produced by the Grass Root Film Company, with music by Maestro Illaiyaraaja.
R. Velraj is in charge of the film’s cinematography, while Ramar is handling the editing process.
Vijay Sethupathi on the work front
Currently, Vijay Sethupathi is basking in the success of his 50th film Maharaja, which hit theaters on June 14th, 2024, and received positive reviews. The film has been released in both Tamil and Telugu simultaneously, enjoying a successful opening weekend so far. Maharaja was written and directed by Nithilan Swaminathan and produced by Leo producer Jagadish Palanisamy under his production company, The Route.
Upcoming projects for the actor include Train, a dark thriller directed by Mysskin, and Viduthalai: Part 2, helmed by Vetrimaaran.
