The investigation-thriller-drama collected Rs 25.45 crore on its second day in India, bringing the total to Rs 61.30 crore in 2 days. With international earnings of over USD 5 million (Rs 43 crore), Vettaiyan has crossed the Rs 100 crore mark at the global box office in just 2 days.

The North Indian market is not contributing significantly to the film’s business.

About Vettaiyan
Vettaiyan, starring Rajinikanth, tells the story of SP Athiyan IPS, a police officer stationed in Kanniyakumari with his wife and nephew. Known as an encounter specialist feared by criminals, he is nicknamed Vettaiyan, which means The Hunter.
In his journey, Athiyan meets Saranya, a school teacher fighting for her students’ rights. Amitabh Bachchan plays the role of Supreme Court Justice Sathyadev, advocating for human rights and against encounters for every crime.
As the story unfolds, Athiyan takes matters into his own hands, even after being transferred to Chennai, setting up an investigation drama and a clash of ideologies between encounters and human rights.
