Venice Film Festival 2024 Unveils Full Lineup Including Joker: Folie à Deux and Other Must-See Titles
The Venice Film Festival’s 81st edition lineup has been released, and it promises to be a star-studded event!
Last year’s festival, which took place during the SAG AFTRA strike, was a subdued affair with minimal celebrity presence. Now that the strike is over, the 2024 film festival is expected to be full of stars. Films like Joker: Folie à Deux, Maria, and Wolfs will be honored at this prestigious event!
On July 23rd, the list of films set to premiere at the festival was announced, including some highly anticipated titles. Todd Phillips’ Joker: Folie à Deux, starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, is among them.
The sequel to the 2019 hit Joker, which garnered 11 Oscar nominations and grossed $1B worldwide, is undoubtedly the most high-profile movie in the lineup. Gaga’s debut in the DC universe alongside Phoenix in this musical thriller is sure to excite fans.
Other notable entries include Luca Guadagnino’s “Queer,” based on the William S. Burroughs novel and starring Daniel Craig, Lesley Manville, and Jason Schwartzman. Angelina Jolie may grace the Venice red carpet in support of her film “Maria,” directed by Pablo Larrain.
The festival will also feature Tim Burton’s “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” and Jon Watts’ “Wolfs,” starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt, among others.
