Val Chmerkovskiy and Jenna Johnson Discuss Their Son’s Close Relationship with Maks’ Children

Married co-stars Valentin “Val” Chmerkovskiy and Jenna Johnson Chmerkovskiy shared about their 13-month-old son Rome‘s special bond with cousins Shai, 7, and Rio, 8 months. Shai and Rio are the sons of Val’s brother and show alumnus Maksim “Maks” Chmerkovskiy and his wife, fellow series dance professional Peta Murgatroyd.
“Shai is a fantastic older cousin and brother,” Jenna told E! News at a celebration for the Oscar-nominated film Poor Things in Hollywood on Feb. 22. “Rome is very interested in babies, although sometimes a bit too enthusiastically, he has a lot of passion for them.”
Val chimed in, “He definitely has a strong grip! He adored Shai, and he and Rio will have a blast playing together. It’s clear that they will have loads of fun.”
Jenna also mentioned how the two families recently went on their first joint family vacation over Christmas. “It was heartwarming because it was the first time they had all been together for such an extended period, with both of us being busy with the season. It was quite chaotic,” she recalled.
