Tom Holland Reveals the Most Meaningful Aspect of His 3-Year Sobriety Journey
In May 2023, the former member of One Direction celebrated reaching 100 days of sobriety.
“I feel fantastic,” he exclaimed. “I feel really great, and the support from the fans has been amazing.”
His struggle with addiction started during the peak of One Direction’s popularity. “The problem we faced in the band—and I hold no one accountable for this…But it seemed that, due to our massive success, the best way to keep us secure was to confine us in a room. And what usually comes in that room? A minibar,” Liam revealed. “So, at a certain point, I decided, ‘Well, I’m going to have a party by myself,’ and that behavior continued for many years.”
He has been open about his journey to sobriety. “It wasn’t until I saw myself afterwards that I realized, ‘Okay, I need to make a change,'” he reflected in June 2021 when he mentioned he was over a month sober. “I saw a few pictures of myself on a boat and I looked bloated, I had what I call a pills-and-booze face….My face was much puffier than it is now. I didn’t like the person I had become, so I decided to make a change.”
