Chrisley Financially Responsible for $755,000 After Losing Lawsuit
Todd Chrisley is facing new legal challenges. The former reality TV star, currently serving time for bank fraud and tax evasion, has been ordered by a Georgia court to pay $755,000 to a former special agent with the Georgia Department of Revenue (GDOR), as reported by E! News.
On April 4, a verdict was reached in favor of Amy Doherty-Heinze, with Chrisley being liable for “$350,000.00 in compensatory damages, $170,000 in punitive damages, and $235,000 in litigation expenses, totaling $755,000.”
In July 2021, Doherty-Heinze filed a defamation lawsuit against the star of Chrisley Knows Best. According to documents obtained by People, Chrisley had been attacking her since 2020, accusing her of various crimes and misconduct during the GDOR’s investigation into him and his wife, Julie Chrisley, which began three years earlier.
In her complaint, Doherty-Heinze claimed that Chrisley initiated a social media campaign against GDOR and its employees, alleging that the investigation was unlawful and improperly motivated. Despite her lack of involvement in the investigation, she became a target of the social media attacks.
