Tia Mowry Clarifies Her Relationship with Sister Tamera Mowry
Before taking on the role of cheerleader Isis in the popular 2000 movie Bring It On, Union appeared as Tia and Tamera’s friend Vanessa in seasons four and five.
Since then, Union has appeared in a variety of films including The Brothers, Deliver Us From Eva, Bad Boys II, The Perfect Holiday, Cadillac Records, Think Like a Man, Top Five, Birth of a Nation, Girls Trip, and Breaking In. She received an NAACP Image Award for her role as a dedicated journalist in the BET series Being Mary Jane and currently portrays an LAPD detective
(a character from Bad Boys II) in Spectrum Originals’ LA’s Finest.
Union also served as a judge on America’s Got Talent. After leaving the show, she spoke out about a “toxic culture” on set, alleging she faced racist and sexist remarks. However, an independent investigation concluded that there were no insensitive or derogatory comments made about Union’s appearance. NBC and AGT producers stated this in May 2020.
In an interview with Variety, Union expressed her desire for real change in the workplace, not just on the show but throughout the parent company. She aims to create a positive and inclusive work environment.
In 2014, Union married retired NBA star Dwyane Wade after nearly six years of dating. The couple welcomed their daughter Kaavia James via surrogate in 2018, and Union is also a stepmother to Wade’s three children from previous relationships.
