Flashback: Ayushmann Khurrana’s failed attempt to reach Karan Johar; ‘We don’t audition newcomers’
Ayushmann Khurrana began his career as a radio jockey before transitioning into video jockeying. He made his Bollywood debut in 2012 with Shoojit Sircar’s Vicky Donor opposite Yami Gautam. In the initial days of his career, Ayushmann once got Karan Johar’s landline number but was rejected over a call as the KJo team didn’t audition outsiders.
On an episode of Koffee With Karan Season 6, Ayushmann revealed that he had interviewed Karan Johar back in 2007 when he was a radio jockey. Karan shared his contact details with Ayushmann after he expressed his aspirations to become an actor. Despite being told that Dharma Productions didn’t audition outsiders, Ayushmann remained hopeful.
Ayushmann Khurrana won the second season of MTV Roadies in 2004 and appeared on shows like MTV Fully Faltoo Movies, Cheque De India, and Jaadoo Ek Baar. Despite facing initial failures with films like Nautanki Saala, Bewakoofiyaan, and Hawaizaada, Ayushmann continued to persevere in the industry.
In an interview with Forbes India, Ayushmann spoke about the importance of experiencing failures early in one’s career. He emphasized the need to learn from setbacks in order to grow as an individual. His filmography includes a diverse range of movies such as Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Article 15, Dream Girl, and many others.
Ayushmann was last seen in Dream Girl 2 alongside Ananya Panday in a sequel to the 2019 film, Dream Girl. His versatility as an actor and dedication to his craft have made him a prominent figure in Bollywood.
