Rewind: Alia Bhatt shares the moment she excitedly jumped for 5 minutes after being offered Inshallah with Salman Khan
Salman Khan and Alia Bhatt, two of the biggest stars in Bollywood, were set to star in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film Inshallah. However, the project was ultimately canceled. Alia recently expressed her hope that the movie would be revived in the future. Let’s take a look back at the moment when she shared her excitement about being offered the film with Salman.
In an old interview with Bollywood Hungama, Alia Bhatt revealed her initial reaction to being offered Inshallah with Salman Khan. She recalled jumping with joy upon receiving the news. Alia mentioned that she was out of India at the time and was in the midst of something when she got the call. The actress said, “Literally, I ran to the corner, and I jumped up and down for five minutes because I was so excited.”
Inshallah was officially announced in 2019. Alia took to her X (formerly Twitter) account to share her excitement, stating, “Dream with your eyes wide open they say & I did. Sanjay Sir and Salman Khan are magical together & I can’t wait to join them on this beautiful journey called ‘Inshallah’.” Check out her old tweet!
Inshallah would have been Alia Bhatt’s first collaboration with Salman Khan and director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. However, she later worked with the filmmaker in the crime drama Gangubai Kathiawadi, which went on to receive critical acclaim and earned Alia her first National Award.
Currently, Alia is preparing to start filming Love & War with Bhansali. She will be starring alongside her husband Ranbir Kapoor and Raazi co-star Vicky Kaushal in this epic project, slated for release on March 20, 2026.
In a recent interview with The Lallantop, Alia expressed her hope that Sanjay Leela Bhansali would eventually make Inshallah, as she believes it to be a brilliant love story.
Meanwhile, Salman Khan is busy shooting for his action entertainer Sikandar, directed by AR Murugadoss and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. The film is set to hit theaters on Eid 2025. Salman is also lined up to star in Kick 2.
