Unveiling Intimate Snaps from Met Gala 2024 Reveals a Night to Remember
Information about the Met Gala doesn’t always remain private.
Although photographers are positioned to capture red carpet arrivals at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the event itself follows a strict “No Cameras” policy enforced by Anna Wintour, the event chair. Anna Wintour. (View all the fashion from the 2024 Met Gala
Former Vogue employee Sylvana Ward Durrett once described Anna Wintour as a “traditionalist” who prefers the use of professional photographers over guests’ phones to document the event.
“She enjoys a dinner party where guests engage in conversation,” shared Ward Durrett, who worked closely with Wintour on past Met Galas, in a 2016 interview with the New York Post. “We don’t hover, but we may gently remind individuals if necessary.”
Despite the policy, some celebrities have managed to capture moments at the Gala. For example, in 2017, Kylie Jenner created a celebrity hotspot in the museum’s restroom by taking a selfie with Kendall Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Brie Larson, Paris Jackson, Frank Ocean, Lily Aldridge, A$AP Rocky, Elizabeth Chambers, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Ashton Sanders, and Slick Woods.
