The Real Story Behind Bryan Kohberger’s Alleged Stalking Incidents
Bryan Kohberger is no longer facing one specific accusation.
During a court hearing on April 10, both the prosecution and defense agreed that the 29-year-old, who stands accused of killing four University of Idaho students in November 2022, did not engage in stalking behavior towards one of the victims. This information was reported by the Idaho Statesman.
Latah County Prosecutor Bill Thompson specifically stated that the allegation of Kohberger stalking one of the college students—Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Madison Mogen, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Ethan Chapin, 20—was unfounded.
Both sides’ legal representatives also refuted rumors that Kohberger had followed one of the victims on social media.
Despite the resolution of the stalking accusations, there was disagreement between prosecutors and the defense regarding the request to relocate the trial due to concerns about the potential influence of media coverage on prospective jurors.
“The state is simply trying to approach this matter practically and with common sense,” Thompson explained to the court on April 10, as reported by the Idaho Statesman. “It appears that the defense is willing to risk biasing additional jurors in order to identify any existing bias, and I’m not convinced that this is the appropriate approach for the court.”
