“Unlocking Super Bowl Style: The Taylor Swift Guide to Fashion”
In the crowded, lively, and beer-scented stands of a football stadium, one might not expect to find a celebrity making symbolic fashion statements, all in the name of romance. However, over the last four months, that’s exactly what we’ve come to expect from Taylor Swift’s appearances at Kansas City Chiefs games as she supports her boyfriend, Travis Kelce.
Let’s backtrack for a moment. While I enjoy Swift’s music, I wouldn’t consider myself a dedicated “Swiftie.” However, my tastes have certainly shifted towards all things Swift over the last year. It all started last spring when I flew to Nashville with my best friend Brittany to attend Swift’s “Eras” tour. We found ourselves swaying in our seats, singing along to “Enchanted,” “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” and “Karma” surrounded by thousands of fans. After returning to New York and covering Swift’s on- and off-stage outfits as part of my job, I subconsciously began incorporating more boots, sneakers, and handbags accented with dark crystals and metallic textures into my own style. My reporting on Swift’s fashion choices allowed me to amass a wealth of knowledge about her go-to brands, silhouettes, and color palettes, as well as what they symbolize.
Knowing Swift’s intentional approach to her clothing choices, it’s safe to assume that her Super Bowl appearance will be no different. Her appearances at Kelce’s games have seen her adopting a consistent VIP suit uniform for cheering on the Chiefs, typically consisting of jeans, shorts, or a mini skirt in blue, black, or plaid, paired with a T-shirt or sweatshirt in white, red, or black. Her looks are often elevated with oversized windbreakers, bombers, and varsity jackets in Chiefs colors, along with a crossbody bag and layered gold and diamond jewelry from various brands. Swift completes her game day looks with boots, block-heeled loafers, or even Chiefs-colored Nikes.
