In an interview with Empire, showrunner Patrick McKay stated that season 2 would be on a much grander scale.
Despite the franchise’s impressive history of fight sequences in The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, McKay is confident they will exceed audience expectations. He emphasized their love for epic battles.
Some of the franchise’s most memorable battle sequences are The Battle of Helm’s Deep and The Battle of Pelennor Fields. The storyline of The Rings Of Power season 2 offers plenty of opportunities for massive battles, building anticipation among fans, especially with the creators heightening expectations!
The Rings Of Power producer teases battles ten times larger
Producer Charlotte Brändström stirred excitement by promising battles in the upcoming season to be ten times grander than before. She mentioned that not only the scale but also the intensity of the scenes will be heightened.
“It’s really a clash of darkness and light,” she described, with dark and violent moments. She also discussed the Orcs-Númenórean battle from season one, revealing that it was intentionally designed as a small-scale skirmish.
Brändström highlighted Sauron’s impact on the battle sequences’ magnitude and hinted at the chaos and destruction to come in the second season.
The executive producer, Lindsey Weber, mentioned Sauron’s return and the escalating threat, promising a different kind of action and more terrifying moments in Middle-earth.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 is set to premiere on August 29 on Prime Video.
