Grey’s Anatomy Future Uncovers After 20 Seasons
Grey’s Anatomy won’t be ending anytime soon.
The popular medical drama on ABC has been officially renewed for a 21st season, making it the longest-running primetime medical drama on TV, as confirmed by show creator Shonda Rimes.
“The dedication and passion of Grey’s Anatomy fans have led us to this milestone 21st season,” Rimes shared in a statement to E! News on April 1, “and I am truly thankful for it.”
Rimes also announced that showrunner Meg Marinis, who took over from Krista Vernoff at the end of season 19, will continue in her role. She praised Marinis’ storytelling as “a valuable asset that keeps the show fresh, engaging, and dynamic.”
“I am excited to see what she has planned for the next season,” added Rimes.
The news of the renewal follows the recent premiere of the 20th season of Grey’s Anatomy, which saw Ellen Pompeo stepping back from her lead role as Meredith Grey. However, Pompeo remains part of the main cast as the show’s narrator, guiding a new group of doctors and interns including Natalie Morales, Nico Terho, and Midori Francis.
