Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer The Buckingham Murders saw a slight increase in box office collections on its second day, although it was still underwhelming. Directed by Hansal Mehta, the murder mystery film only managed to collect Rs 1.55 crore on its first Saturday after a lackluster opening of Rs 1.10 crore in India.
Kareena Kapoor Khan’s The Buckingham Murders Shows 40% Increase After Slow Start
The Buckingham Murders was released on limited screens in two audio formats – Hindi and Hinglish, targeting its niche audience in urban areas. However, the response has not met expectations, with only a 40% increase in collections on its second day, bringing the total box office collection to Rs 2.65 crore domestically.
The film is expected to earn around Rs 4.50 crore in its first weekend, which is not a promising report for a film starring Kareena Kapoor. Despite being a new release this weekend, The Buckingham Murders should have performed better compared to the re-released film Tumbbad, but the opposite seems to be the case. The major competition for the Hansal Mehta film is Stree 2, which remains the top choice among moviegoers.
Positive word of mouth and audience feedback could potentially boost the film’s business moving forward. While the film may not have performed well at the box office, such passion projects are made out of sheer love for the craft. The hope is for a decent non-theatrical deal to cover production costs.

About The Buckingham Murders
Jasmeet Bhamra (Kareena Kapoor Khan) is a British-Indian Detective Inspector who is dealing with the loss of her child. Despite her grief, she is asked to assist Detective Inspector Hardy in solving the case of a murdered 10-year-old child named Ishmeet in Buckinghamshire, belonging to the Sikh community. Initially hesitant, she ends up joining the investigation with DI Hardy. The prime suspect, of Islamic descent, adds complexity to the case due to strained relations between the immigrant communities.
