Former “Brady Bunch” Star Barry Williams Reminisces About Cast Members’ Offscreen Romantic Relationships
The popular family sitcom, The Brady Bunch, was a huge success in the 1960s and became a household name. Running for five seasons, the show centered around the merging of two families when a widower and a widow marry. The widower, an architect and father of three, falls in love with Carol, a widowed woman with three daughters of her own, turning their group of misfits into a family.
In an interview with US Weekly, Barry Williams, who played the eldest son Greg, revealed that the young cast members had romantic relationships with each other, though not necessarily during filming. Williams dated Maureen McCormick, who played the eldest daughter, as well as Chris Knight, who played the middle son. He also had a connection with Eve Plum, who portrayed the middle daughter. Even the youngest members of the cast, Bobby and Cindy, played by Michael Lookinland and Susan Olsen, had off-screen relationships.
Despite his off-screen romances, Williams confessed to having a crush on Florence Henderson, who played his on-screen mother, Carol. In his autobiography, Growing Up Brady: I Was a Teenage Greg, he detailed his infatuation with Henderson and a “date” they went on to see a singer in Beverly Hills. Despite feeling awkward due to being recognized, they had a pleasant evening discussing the singer and even shared a memorable kiss.
