Taylor Swift’s shocking announcement at the Grammys sparks fan frenzy before historic victory
Fourteen-time Grammy winner and music industry sensation, Taylor Swift, wowed fans with her first acceptance speech at the awards night, announcing the upcoming release of a new album.
The singer-songwriter revealed during her acceptance speech for ‘Best Pop Vocal Album’ that her 11th studio album, ‘The Tortured Poets Department’, is on the way.
Swift earned her 13th and 14th Grammys for her latest work, “Midnights”, which sold over $6M units worldwide in just eight weeks and reclaimed the number-one spot on the Billboard 200 six months after its release.
“I know that the way the Recoding Academy voted is a direct reflection of the passion of the fans,” Swift said.
“So, I want to say thank you to the fans by telling you a secret that I’ve been keeping from you for the last two years which is that my brand-new album comes out April 19th.”
After leaving the stage, Swift immediately shared the album cover on her social media before returning to enjoy the rest of the awards show.
The Grammy winner announced that ‘The Tortured Poet’s Department’ will be released on April 19, while she takes a break from her Era’s World Tour between Singapore and France.
Swift will kick off the Australian leg of her Eras’ Tour in Melbourne on Friday, February 16, just under two weeks from now.
Following the album announcement, Taylor Swift made history by breaking the record for most wins in the ‘Album of the Year’ category at the Grammy Awards.
