Taylor Swift Surprises Audience with 2 Additional Mashup Performances in Sydney Concert
Taylor Swift had some exciting surprises in store for her fans in Sydney, Australia.
During the second night of her Eras Tour at Accor Stadium on Saturday (Feb. 23), the pop superstar performed two unique mashups during the acoustic portion of her set, as she does at each tour date.
Swift kicked off the surprises with a mashup of “Should’ve Said No” from her debut album in 2006 and “You’re Not Sorry” from 2008’s Fearless. She then followed up with a medley of “New Year’s Day” from Reputation and “Peace” from Folklore while sitting at the piano.
At Friday’s show, Swift announced a third edition of her upcoming album, The Tortured Poets Department, titled “The Albatross,” which includes a limited bonus song of the same name. She revealed this news before performing a mashup of “White Horse” and “Coney Island” with opener Sabrina Carpenter.
Swift has been delivering mashups during the surprise song section of her Eras Tour concerts, with the first one happening during her show in Melbourne on Feb. 17. She treated fans to a three-song mashup of “Getaway Car,” “August,” and “The Other Side of the Door.”
Before performing the medley, Swift expressed her desire to make her fans happy, saying, “I just really want you to be happy because you’re making me happy.”
On the following evening, Swift combined “Come Back… Be Here” from her Red era with the closing track “Daylight” from Lover at Melbourne Cricket Ground.
During the Feb. 18 show, Swift discussed the importance of getting creative with the surprise songs and challenged herself to explore songs she wouldn’t typically gravitate towards, despite giving herself permission to repeat songs during the international leg of the tour.
She shared, “I want to be as creative as possible with the acoustic set moving forward,” emphasizing the importance of keeping the element of chaos in her nightly song choices.
