Why the backlash against the famous WAG, you might ask? Well, because she is a Trump supporter, and Taylor Swift is openly against that. Or at least she was until 2020, when she publicly criticized the Republican candidate while endorsing Joe Biden for president.

Reminding Taylor of her criticism of Trump in her 2020 documentary Miss Americana, where she declared, “I need to be on the right side of history,” Swifties are calling her out for straying from her political beliefs from four years ago by interacting with the wife of her boyfriend’s teammate, whom she became close with late last year. The pair were seen sharing a suite and supporting their partners at multiple games during the previous football season, which culminated in their team, the Kansas City Chiefs, winning the Super Bowl.
On September 5, the first game of the latest football season, the ladies were observed keeping their distance, sparking rumors of a feud. However, these speculations were dispelled after their hug on the previously mentioned date, leaving Swifties frustrated as they highlighted the disconnect between the Bad Blood singer’s words and actions.
“Hey @taylorswift13, you dropped this,” one user posted on X, attaching a picture of a spine. This sentiment was echoed multiple times on X, where users resurfaced the singer’s old tweets against Trump, accusing her of being selective with her politics.
“I don’t expect a billionaire to lead the revolution or anything, I’m just confused as to why one would make a movie about standing up for what’s right at a cost, only to never stand for anything again,” another disappointed Swiftie wrote, while a third fan added, “this might be the worst and most widespread public backlash she has faced in years, and honestly, I hope she’s freaking out.”
It’s unclear whether the backlash is affecting Taylor, as if being associated with Trump and his political campaign had any impact on her, last month would have been an appropriate time for her to address it, when the real estate mogul turned politician used AI-generated images to falsely claim a growing Swifties-for-Trump movement.
