Taylor Swift ignites notirious ‘Zoo fued’ after two visits to Sydney attraction

Aussie jaws have dropped over Taylor Swift’s seemingly innocent yet controversial visits to Sydney Zoo.

Swift was photographed visiting Sydney Zoo in the city’s western suburbs two days in a row, on a solo visit on Wednesday and Thursday with boyfriend Travis Kelce in tow.

Despite a trip to the zoo seeming like an innocuous tourist activity, Swift unknowingly stepped into the ongoing ‘beef’ between Sydney Zoo and Taronga Zoo.

Taronga Zoo, located in Mosman, opened in 1916. It has long been a tourist hotspot thanks in large to its stunning views of the city.

In 2015, plans for a new zoo in western Sydney were announced.

The zoo, which is about about 35 kilometres from the CBD, was controversially named Sydney Zoo.

A lawsuit was launched over the name, with Taronga Zoo alleging misleading or deceptive conduct.

It argued the title could cause the public to confuse the new zoo with its own facility on Sydney harbour and to falsely believe it was located in the city’s centre.

Discussions between the parties outside the court process led to an agreement in 2018.

While the details of the agreement are confidential, Taronga Conservation Society Australia spokeswoman Libby Hodgson said at the time the two parties were able to agree on several measures that would clarify any confusion.

Despite the measures to avoid confusion, many Sydneysiders believe the pop superstar has fallen victim to the confusion.

“She couldn’t have gone literally anywhere else?! Maybe Taronga?” one person wrote.

“She didn’t even try Taronga out, she went to Blacktown two days in a row,” wrote another.

Others suggested her two visits proved she had in fact, loved the visit.

“In my mind she loved it so much she just had to show Travis,” one person wrote.

“She probably thought this man lost his mind at a squirrel imagine when he sees a Kangaroo,” another wrote.
