Taha Shah Badussha stands up for Heeramandi co-star Sharmin Segal; calls for audience to be more forgiving
Actress Sharmin Segal has faced criticism for her performance in the series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. Despite the backlash, her co-stars Fardeen Khan, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Taha Shah Badussha have come out in support of her.

In a recent interview with YouTuber Puja Talwar, Taha Shah Badussha addressed the criticism Sharmin Segal has received for her role in Heeramandi. Taha mentioned that his parents provided him with logical explanations about her performance, which they found understandable.
“The audience has criticized her, but those close to me, like my parents, have given me logical reasons why her performance made sense,” Taha stated.
Having spent more than 100 days working with Sharmin on set, Taha emphasized that he witnessed her dedication and effort in portraying her character.

Taha Shah Badussha further praised Sharmin for her thorough understanding of the script. He mentioned how she would identify loopholes and offer insightful ideas during the filming process.
Highlighting Sharmin’s experience as an assistant director to Sanjay Leela Bhansali and her debut in Malaal, Taha acknowledged her familiarity with Bhansali’s working style.
Taha Shah urged the audience to show empathy towards Sharmin Segal, considering her relative youth in the industry, and hoped they would be lenient in their judgment.

Heeramandi, featuring a star-studded cast including Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Fardeen Khan, and Shekhar Suman, is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
