Tamara Potocka, Swimmer, Collapses Following Individual Race
Tamara Potocka is currently receiving medical attention after collapsing poolside at the 2024 Olympics.
Following her completion of the Women’s 200-Meter individual medley race, the 21-year-old swimmer from Slovakia collapsed as she exited the water, as reported by the Associated Press.
According to the news outlet, she was immediately tended to by medical personnel, given initial assistance, and transported on a stretcher.
In images released by the AP, Potocka was seen being taken away with an oxygen mask on, while medical staff confirmed that she remained conscious after the incident.
The incident occurred during a live broadcast, leaving onlookers, commentators, and officials in shock, as per the Daily Mail.
One commentator mentioned in the publication, “Fifteen thousand people are now watching an athlete surrounded by medical staff, and I can assure you it’s absolutely silent in here. They’ve got a stretcher out, they’ve got an oxygen mask on the athlete, and I’m going to say…this looks very serious.”
