Amar Kaushik, Director of Stree 2, Talks About Shraddha Kapoor’s Character Name in the Film: ‘Naam Jo Hai Uska Vo…’
Amar Kaushik ventured into filmmaking with the release of Stree in 2018. The horror-comedy received immense love, leading to the creation of a sequel, Stree 2, which was recently released. As the top-grossing films of the year dominate discussions, audiences are also intrigued to learn the original name of Shraddha Kapoor’s character in the series. The director has now shed light on the various speculations surrounding the female lead’s name.
In the concluding scene of Stree 2, Shraddha Kapoor’s character whispers her name to Vicky. Judging by Rajkummar Rao’s reaction, it was inferred that her name is less than impressive. This sparked numerous theories about the character’s potential name. Addressing these theories, director Amar Kaushik spoke about the topic in an interview with the YouTube channel Men of Culture.
Speaking in Hindi, the filmmaker said, “Her name is a big mystery. I believe everyone will have to wait a while longer for it to be revealed.” Kaushik mentioned that the team had extensive discussions on the matter. Reflecting on filming, he recalled how they captured Rao’s genuine reaction to Kapoor uttering a name in his ear.
During filming, Kaushik instructed Shraddha to say a specific name in Rajkummar Rao’s ear, creating an authentic reaction. While some theories suggest the character’s name could be Munni, linking it to Kaushik’s film Munjya, the director dismissed this notion, stating the movie would be shorter if true.
Notably, Stree 2 features Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana alongside Rajkummar and Shraddha. Additionally, Tamannaah Bhatia, Varun Dhawan, Akshay Kumar, and Amar Kaushik make special appearances in the film.
