Sophie Turner Reveals Surprising Details About Her Character in the New Film Joan: ‘She Is Unlike Any Role I’ve Tackled Before’
Sophie Turner has landed the role of Godmother in the upcoming suspense drama, Joan. The actress will be portraying a jewelry thief who becomes so successful in her business that she earns the title of Godmother. Turner shared that it was the maternal nature of her character that drew her to the show.
Speaking to Variety, Turner described Godmother as a character with strong underworld connections and criminal activities, but also as a mother who would do anything for her child.
Turner revealed that she auditioned for the role while heavily pregnant and received a call the day after giving birth. She stated, “I auditioned for it because she is so different from anyone I’ve ever played.”
She also shared her experience of meeting the real Joan, the inspiration behind the show, just a week before filming began. Turner described the meeting as a treat and praised Joan’s vibrant personality.
Discussing her future on Game of Thrones, Turner expressed willingness to return to the show if the cast and crew remained the same. She pondered what her character, Sansa, would be doing and expressed her curiosity to see where the story would take her.
Joan is set to premiere on ITV on September 29.
