Sophie Turner Expresses Interest in Reprising Sansa Stark Role in Game of Thrones Under One Condition; Discover What It Is
Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner has shared her thoughts on the possibility of a ninth season comeback, highlighting why it may not be a good idea for the show to return. Despite the controversial finale of the HBO series five years ago, viewers still hold the entire series in high regard.
In an interview with Variety to promote her upcoming series Joan, Turner discussed the idea of returning to the world of Game of Thrones. When asked if she would consider reprising her role as Sansa, the actor replied, “Maybe.”
Turner specified the conditions under which she would consider returning. “Maybe. I mean, it would have to be with the same cast and crew, otherwise it wouldn’t feel right, and that would essentially be Season 9.”
“I don’t think there will be a Season 9, but I do miss playing Sansa and often think about where she would be now,” Turner commented. The Joan actress continued, “Five years later, what would her life look like? Would she still be ruling in the North? Could she lead effectively? Would there be another devastating war? I would love to explore that.”
Turner’s suggestion that a Game of Thrones continuation would essentially be Season 9 only highlights a major hurdle to the show’s potential return.
Despite the mixed reactions to the eighth season, Game of Thrones featured unparalleled production value, making a revival challenging.
All the actors have moved on to various projects since the show ended. Turner, for instance, has appeared in several films including Joan, Do Revenge, X-Men: Dark Phoenix, and The Staircase. Given her long tenure as Sansa Stark, it’s worth noting that the character’s story ended on a positive note.
