Star on Earth: Aamir Khan praises his upcoming film as ‘very special’; reveals how Junaid and Ira convinced him not to give up acting
Aamir Khan took responsibility for the failure of his 2022 film, Laal Singh Chaddha, and even threw a party to celebrate his team’s hard work. As he prepares for Sitaare Zameen Par, the 59-year-old actor describes it as a “great” film and reveals how his children, Ira Khan and Junaid Khan, convinced him not to quit acting.
In a recent podcast Chapter 2 with Rhea Chakraborty on YouTube, Aamir Khan emphasized the importance of understanding the reasons for failure and honestly admitted his mistakes in the failure of Laal Singh Chaddha. He talked about self-improvement and his positive attitude towards his work on Sitaare Zameen Par.
“When I started working on Sitaare Zameen Par, I did it with the mindset that it’s okay…and now Sitaare is complete. I had a great time working on Sitaare. It’s an amazing film,” he said.
Aamir Khan revealed that he initially planned to retire from films and that Sitaare Zameen Par was his first project after almost leaving Bollywood. He shared that he had to inform the director, R.S. Prasanna, that he was quitting acting and that another actor would have to take his place in the film.
The superstar explained that he chose not to announce his retirement publicly to avoid unnecessary drama. Aamir recalled a moment where he sat with his children, daughter Ira Khan, son Junaid Khan, and discussed his future plans. Junaid and Ira convinced him not to quit acting, calling him a “pendulum” and advising him to maintain a balance.
Aamir Khan is reuniting with Darsheel Safary in Sitaare Zameen Par, after working together in Taare Zameen Par in 2007. The film also stars Genelia D’Souza.
