Ayres Sasaki, 35, Dies After Electrocution Incident During Performance
The Brazilian music industry is in mourning.
Local singer Ayres Sasaki died on July 13 after a fatal electric shock during a concert in the resort city of Salinópolis in Pará, Brazil. He was 35.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding Sasaki’s death, as reported by multiple local outlets.
According to Billboard Brazil and Brazilian celebrity magazine ISTOÉ Gente, the rock musician passed away almost immediately after being electrocuted while hugging a soaked fan during his performance at the Solar Hotel. However, the Diário do Pará newspaper stated that Sasaki was electrocuted while playing guitar on stage.
The hotel expressed its condolences after his passing and mentioned that they are cooperating with the authorities in their investigation.
“Since yesterday, we have been fully committed to supporting his family and making the necessary arrangements,” the establishment stated in Portuguese on social media on July 14. “We are in direct contact with his family, providing all the necessary support during this difficult time.”
