“Simone Biles Defends Jonathan Owens, Tells Critics to Stop”
“Initially, I found it funny, but then it started to really hurt my feelings,” Simone expressed about the public criticism she received on the Call Her Daddy podcast in April. “There was a moment when I just couldn’t take it anymore and I asked myself, ‘Why are you all talking about my husband in this way? You don’t even know him or who he is.'”
The 27-year-old also felt that the online scrutiny crossed a line.
“It really hurt me that they were speaking about my husband in such a manner,” she continued. “For me, it’s fine if they want to criticize me, but attacking my family is unacceptable—always. I’ve been in the public eye for a long time, so I can usually shrug things off and deal with it privately.”
“You may not see me getting emotional, but I do have my moments of tears,” Simone confessed. “I only cry because I can’t respond back. Just remember that.”
However, Jonathan has shown unwavering support and continues to be her biggest fan.
“You continue to impress me every day, love seeing you out there doing your thing,” he posted on Instagram on May 19. “I’ll always be by your side, wouldn’t miss it for anything.”
