Simon Cowell’s reaction to Carrie Underwood joining American Idol as a judge
“I feel really fortunate to have a strong foundation in country music, but I’ve also had the opportunity to dabble in other genres,” shared the 41-year-old during a surprise appearance at SiriusXM’s Music Row Happy Hour in Las Vegas on Aug. 23. “I even have a song with Papa Roach right now. It’s been a lot of fun.”
When asked about her approach as a judge alongside Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan, Underwood mentioned, “I believe I’m adaptable and capable of seeing things from different perspectives when listening to auditionees.”
Unlike Cowell’s blunt critiques, Underwood aims to be compassionate in her feedback.
“I aim to offer honesty and constructive criticism with a touch of kindness,” she explained. “It’s important because auditionees are chasing their dreams, and you become a part of their journey from that moment forward.”
